Tucker Carlson, a prominent conservative commentator and former Fox News host, recently tweeted a video in which he shared his thoughts on the state of American media and politics. Carlson began by expressing his appreciation for the many “genuinely nice people” in the country who are “kind and decent” and care about the truth. However, he quickly moved on to criticize the media for its focus on irrelevant debates and lack of attention to important issues.
According to Carlson, topics such as war, civil liberties, emerging science, demographic change, corporate power, and natural resources are not being discussed in the American media. He attributes this to the fact that both political parties and their donors have reached a consensus on what benefits them and are actively colluding to shut down any conversation about these issues. Carlson argues that the United States looks very much like a one-party state and that this is a depressing realization.
However, Carlson also sees hope for the future. He believes that the current orthodoxies in American politics and media are “brain dead” and that nobody actually believes them. As a result, he thinks that this moment is too inherently ridiculous to continue and that the people in charge know this. They are resorting to force because they have given up on persuasion.
Despite this, Carlson remains optimistic. He believes that when honest people say what’s true calmly and without embarrassment, they become powerful. In contrast, liars who have been trying to silence them shrink and become weaker. Carlson believes that true things prevail, and as long as people can hear the words, there is hope.
Overall, Carlson’s video is a reflection on the current state of American politics and media. While he is critical of the current situation, he also believes that there is hope for the future. Carlson’s message is a call to action for people to speak up and say what they believe is true, even if it goes against the current orthodoxy. By doing so, they can become powerful and help to shape the future of the country.
