Waking Up to Ideological Missteps

IMG 6397

It seems like everything is leading me to the very truths that have made sense to me my entire life. The fight is here, and if they want one, you better believe they got it.

For as long as I can remember, I fit the mold of the status quo liberal type. The kind they warn about on conservative broadcasts – a wild ideological firestarter, convinced that burning down systems was the only path to freedom. Looking back, I wonder where that even came from. Was it rebellion? Some subconscious recognition that something wasn’t right, even if I couldn’t articulate it at the time? Maybe. When you’re young and distractions are bigger than the truths staring you in the face, it’s easy to get lost.

Growing up on the poorer side of society makes it even easier. The problems are closer to home, more visceral. Violence isn’t a story on the evening news – it’s happening two blocks down. Despair isn’t just an abstract concept. It’s the neighbor who overdosed or the friend who dropped out because survival outweighed education. Danger doesn’t lurk in the shadows; it’s an everyday companion. These experiences shape you, make you skeptical of authority, and often push you toward the fringes where resistance feels like the only answer.

Don’t get me wrong. I believe in capitalism. The idea that if you can create value for others, you deserve to live better makes sense. But let’s not kid ourselves. Being poor brings problems that wealth can insulate you from. The violence, despair, and danger I mentioned? You don’t escape those realities by working harder alone. Sometimes, no matter how much you hustle, the game feels rigged.

And yet, despite those conditions, or maybe because of them, I believed the left stood against the very systems designed to keep people like me in check. I followed voices that preached freedom and action. They spoke of tearing down walls and breaking chains. For a time, it felt like a movement – something real, something that could change the trajectory for all of us. But somewhere along the way, the lines blurred.

The people I admired started aligning with the same entities they once opposed. Organizations were infiltrated, not with brute force, but through subtle ideological shifts. One compromise after another. I watched them drift from radicals pushing back against authority to allies of the establishment. They didn’t even seem to notice. They fight now, not for the people they swore to protect, but for titles, parties, and labels that mean nothing. And the worst part? They can’t explain why. Their entire identity hinges on being a liberal or democrat, as if that label alone justifies their allegiance. It’s baffling to witness.

And yes, I understand why people despise Donald Trump. He’s an easy target. His flaws are front and center. But what bothers me is the inability to have a conversation about him without running into regurgitated soundbites. I expect more from the people around me, yet sometimes it feels like independent thought is a relic of the past.

Was it always this way? Have we all just been playing pretend, recycling talking points, mistaking passion for understanding? Or worse – am I the fool for questioning it? I catch myself wondering if I’ve been chasing ideologies that were empty all along, hoping to find depth where none existed. The realization stings.

I never had a mentor in the traditional sense, but I’ve always gravitated toward information. In every job or pursuit, I dig deep, needing to understand the full scope of things before I can perform. Missing pieces of the puzzle make me restless. Words, debates, and data have always been my anchors. Yet, I let myself believe in people who spoke boldly but acted timidly. I mistook volume for courage and rhetoric for action. Now, I’m ashamed I ever trusted them.

I have to be different.

I guess I already am. But acknowledging that isn’t enough. I need to prove it, not just to others but to myself. The answer feels close, but I haven’t found the right question yet. So, I observe. I dissect moments, break down interactions, and try to piece together the fragments of this chaotic world. Maybe that’s all I can do for now. Observation is a skill, and thankfully, I’ve had plenty of practice.

Some of the things I’ve done might seem reckless to others, but each experience shaped me. I’m not proud of everything, but I’m not ashamed either. Those decisions, good and bad, forged someone uniquely prepared for this moment. I understand pieces of the bigger picture. The rest will come. I believe the conversation itself – the constant pursuit of truth through debate and discussion – will lead me to the answer. That’s the foundation of this project. That’s the point of “My Brutal Mindset” and eventually “The Kapnobatai.”

Lawsuits against social media platforms are coming. Make no mistake – this is a business. I’m not just here because I enjoy stirring the pot. I took an oath once, swearing to defend the Constitution, even when I wasn’t sure what I believed in. I made that promise to a God I didn’t yet understand. Funny how things change. Now, with God by my side – or at least in conversation with me – there’s a sense of purpose I didn’t have before.

Confidence isn’t new to me, but this kind of confidence feels different. I know I’m good at this. And I will prove it. Until then, I observe, take notes, and sharpen the blade.

So… where do we go from here?

It’s the question that lingers in every corner of my mind. The answer isn’t clear yet, but maybe that’s the point. This isn’t about knowing the path ahead. It’s about walking it, even when it twists and turns in ways I can’t predict. For now, I trust the fight that’s coming because I know I’m built for it.

The question will reveal itself in time. Until then, the journey continues.

Walking Through the Clouds

Today, the phrase "walking through the clouds" has taken on a modern resonance, symbolizing how we navigate the vast, intangible realm of the internet and technology. Just as the Kapnobatai burned cannabis to part the veil between the physical and spiritual, we now sift through the “clouds” of data, information, and misinformation to uncover meaning. It is a quest that parallels their ancient journey, one that The Kapnobatai magazine seeks to honor and continue.

Battle Against Manipulation

This isn’t about disliking Wikipedia. It’s about how information—even on a platform supposedly built on checks and balances—can be manipulated or erased. For an entire civilization’s destruction to be omitted from its story, especially when recounting its origin, raises serious questions. How much more information is being quietly deleted like this?
